Someone told me she wished she had recorded more ordinary baby development milestones about her son, since now she can't remember them and they would be useful to know. So here are a few super-mundane items about Will at 12 months:
Sleeping - despite a golden era this spring of sleeping through the night, we have had only one week without waking up since May. There was a recent period of waking up to 8 times a night, which was ridiculous. We periodically re-Ferberize (sleep training), which does help some, but the very hungry Willerpillar seems to need a snack during the night no matter what. Which brings me to...
Eating - for someone who eats so much, not sure how Will can still be so tiny! The daycare ladies said that he was "one of their good eaters" and "ate a ton" and then at home after daycare, he generally packs it away like he hasn't eaten all day. Also, he finally stopped fussing with the bottle about a month ago. Yay! We tried soy formula for awhile, but it seemed to make things worse if anything, so we went back to what we were using before (partially digested milk-based). Now he is drinking some whole milk bottles and some formula bottles. Will feeds himself at daycare and at dinner with us. In addition to that we're still heavily supplementing with bottles and spoon-feeding. I know we're supposed to be weaning off that by now, but Mr. YP likes to maximize that caloric intake. I think it is fine since he is feeding himself for 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, he is definitely getting experience with it. And, you can see from the length of this paragraph that we think a lot about Will and food... oy, makes me start to feel like a neurotic mom sometimes!
Teeth - I am putting this in because Wilbur has sprouted 3 new teeth this week! The second top front tooth (which I swear cut through weeks ago but then the gum covered it up again... frustrating when you just want the teething to end already), and two side teeth on the bottom.
Fussing - I would actually say Wilbur is low maintenance right now (KNOCK ON WOOD!). He does lots of independent active play, and is a cheery guy. He gets whiny when he is tired, hungry, or going through change (starting daycare comes to mind! :) ), but otherwise he has been an easy baby. See Sleeping above for our main sore point for the last several months.
I have been craving spinning time, but have some quilting projects to finish up first. I haven't just been daydreaming about yarn, but yarn photography, of course! The problem is that my free time is at night, and that is not good for lighting. I did a little experimentation tonight and came up with this, better than what I had before but not what I want to take pictures in. I need to think some more about finding time (and natural light) on the weekends during the day.
The yarn:
The set-up (I am fully aware of and loving the irony of spotlights and backdrops for a ball of yarn):

Fiber Fair is coming up! If I could get my yarn washed and photographed before then, it would be a great place to offload it.

I think the look on his face portrays how excited he is to go after the camera!
